Seven Eleven

The Seven Eleven corner grocery store, is a well loved institution in Thailand. The city of Bangkok boasts of 338,778 franchises in the greater city. They are all close to identical. You walk in through an automatic sliding door accompanied by an electronic bell melody, into a frigid air conditioned interior . There is an abundance of snack and junk food, beer, and any other item you might need. There is not a vast selection of any one item, but if you ask one of the hard working employees they will more than likely find what you are looking for. Sometimes we duck into the store just to get some relief from the heat and bustle outside. And of course we always get sucked into buying something unhealthy to eat or drink.
Seven Elevens are primo real estate locations, so you can expect about five or six food carts, outside, parked as close as they can get to the front door.
On one of our previous trips to Thailand we encountered a particularly fat dog who was always lying in the middle of the entryway to the store . All the customers had to step over him. Nobody complained or shooed him away. The dog benefited from a blast of cold air every thirty or so seconds and I am sure there were some food bits to be scavenged.

Ok this seven eleven is closed for renovations. A dagger in the heart for us as it is only a 100 meters away from our hotel room.
